For those who are STILL believing Christians...
by BoogerMan inthe latest watchtower of august 2020 discusses on page 15, "how will the resurrection likely take place?".
since learning real truths as opposed to the org's version of truth, has your view of the resurrection changed significantly?
just one example - regardless of psalm 37:9,11,29: matthew 5:5 & revelation 21:3,4, do you now believe that our destination is heaven rather than earth?.

I had a somewhat paranormal experience 2 days ago, but I think science is just light years behind on this.....
by Bad_Wolf infor the record i'm agnostic, never seen any direct evidence of spirits, afterlife, etc.
i've been visiting my mother during this corona ordeal.
a year ago i had a dream i was much older and talking to somebody about how my mom died this year but it was avoidable.

Glad your mom is doing better, thanks to you checking on her and the help she received in hospital.
I'm with SBF on this. Almost all of our perception and decision making is done in our subconscious, and we're totally oblivious to many of our mind's processes....you not being able to sleep could just be a basal reaction to you receiving input you didn't consciously notice. Maybe pheromones, a subtle change in your mom's breathing or behavior before you went to bed. So you checking on her may not be coincidental at all.
As for your father's text: what kind of trouble did he dream up for you? Could he have had any (subconscious) input that made him uneasy?
Even if not, we need not assume some supernatural process at work. Humans tend to greatly underestimate the nature of chance combined with large numbers. Yes, someone not being able to sleep at the same day a relative has health problems is incredibly small. But now factor in the number of people on earth, the incredibly large amount of nights spent with trouble sleeping during their combined lives, and the number of relatives that suffer some nightly medical crisis. It's simple math: the odds to 'win' are very small, but with many billlions of opportunities someone sometime will 'win' that lottery and check on a relative with health problems while someone else sends them a nightly text message - by pure coincidence.
And if we assume some other dimensional or otherwise yet unknown process 'warned' you or made you check on your mom, why doesn't that process work most of the time? Many people suffer a health crisis (and even die) while their relatives sleep soundly.
Interesting stuff nonetheless. Whether coincidence, subconsciousness, other dimensions or ethereal causes are at work. No doubt there are many things about our universe (and perhaps others) that we don't know yet.
Glad they worked out for your mom and you.

Groningen, The Netherlands.
It's an old fortified city; the canals used to keep enemies out still surround (most of) the city centre. It's a nice city to live in. Big enough to have everything I need, small enough to still be cozy and safe.
Big pro: pubs have no mandatory closing time, so it's possible to party in town until the sun rises (well, when there's no pandemic going on)

Jehovah’s Witnesses President Robert Ciranko dies of coronavirus
by Balaamsass2 infyi.
this showed up on my google feed.
i couldn't find an earlier story in the search box.

@Balaamsass2,
It's been a month, and there hasn't been one bit of confirmation from any other source, not even from the very effective JW rumor mill.
In addition the source site has hallmarks of being an unreliable source.
Nothing is impossible, but it's higly unlikely this is true.

Field service national average - what do you think it is now?
by BourneIdentity init’s always been 10 hours when door to door was active.
i’m curious of how it’s changed with only letter writing and phone witnessing approved.. i’m curious if they are able to do it for 3 hours like a typical door to door morning.
i would be surprised.

There may have been a dip in the first month, but it may very well be back to normal.
There's a lot of busy work going on:
-Letter writing. Dubs slowly handwrite silly letters while drinking coffee and zooming with others doing the same. Even if 4 are drinking their coffee and only 1 is actually writing, they're still all doing field service work, right?
- Phone witness. Same as above, but with more dubs idly watching what one of them isbdoing.
Surely they can rake up a lot of hours doing useless shit like that. They're all being pressured to use their quarantine time for that too.

Top Ten List of What Happens Next...
by Farmer Jim1 inwhat does everyone think will happen next on the back of the coronavirus pandemic?.
these are my suggestions;.
1) coronavirus will have a disproportionate effect on jw ‘growth’ countries like in south america and africa.

They won't get rid of COs. They are a vital link in the chain of absolving the org from any and all responsibility and liability.
Elders, pioneers and others are appointed by COs. Officially because that's how they rolled in the NT too. But we all know they don't want the branch to suffer backlash if an elder or pioneer does something criminal.
So my bet is that COs will stay for a loooong time. But they may move entirety to part-time COs: elders that serve in their own congregation, and go bully other congregations a few weeks per year. Basically the substitute-CO thing.

Do angels have genders?
by BourneIdentity inmany of them came down to have relations with women.
does that mean there are male angels?
if there are male and female, what makes them that with no physical body?
-
Anders Andersen
They have no physical gender, and are male at the same time.
It all makes sense when you comsider when and where these myths were written: a misogynistic patriarchal society that saw women as inferior, property of their male owners.
Of course angels, superior beings, would be male too.
Jehovah is male too. Sure, ask a JW that directly and they'll likely recognize the ridiculousness so they might say he is genderless because he has no physical body.
Then ask them to show any indication for that from the Bible.

Are their tests honest? Or like the US where they count deaths with c19 but not necessarily from c19
I'm not sure about that. If a heart patient who tested positive for Covid19 and has mild symptoms dies from a heart attack, he may or may not be counted. Can't find specifics on that.
However, the reported number of covid19 deaths in The Netherlands is about half of what it would be with 100% testing.
How do we know? Because statistics show a lot more people died in the past few months than could be expected based on statistics. Since there is no other (obvious) explanation for this other than covid19, we can conclude these extra deaths are covid19 related. Either because these people died from covid19, or from the effects covid19 has on society and the health care system.
This also aligns with what family doctors and doctors in nursing homes report: there are quite a few people who have all symptoms of covid19, choose to not go to hospital, and die before/without being tested. These deaths aren't counted in the official number of covid19 deaths.
The same is probably true for most other countries.
What do ststistics says about the number of deaths in the USA in the past weeks? Does it appear number of covid19 deaths are over- or undereported?

In The Netherland 5775 people died of Covid-19 so far.*
On a population of 17.280.000.
That's 0.033%.
Converted to 29.000 dubs that would be only 10 victims.
JW report 87 deaths. That's 9 times the expected number, or about 5 times the expected number of victims based on memorial attendance.
Of course, in cases like these the sample size may not be enough to conclude the numbers are significant.
(Either my brain doesn't work properly because of that bottle of wine I finished or I have to disagree with SBF by a factor of 10.)
Edit to add: regardless of religious conviction or affiliation, every victim is one too many, and mourned for by friends and family.
*) This is confirmed cases only. Statistically speaking, based on the number of people dying per day, covid19 related deaths seem to be about twice that number.
